Property Tags

You can use properties to change the appearance of your topics. For example, use these tags to assign titles to your topics. For an overview of tags, see Tags. You can determine the order, appearance and location of topics in the output formats by using check boxes and the Contents Designer in the Content Manager. TOC information is stored in your Doc-O-Matic project file.

Tag
Description
Examples
contentsentry
<contentsentry>
Contents Entries are used as grouping levels for other topics. Text assigned to Contents Entries does not appear, they are only shown in the table of contents.
group
<group topicid1>
Topic ID that identifies the group topic to which the topic belongs. Topics with subtopics can themselves be members of groups (by using the GROUP tag), so that you can create hierarchies of groups.
topicorder
<topicorder value>
This tag allows you to associate an integer value to each topic. The default order value is 0 (zero). You can use this tag to change the topic order in the hierarchy. After setting up the group topic hierarchy it is sorted according to these values (topics with a lower value come in front of topics with a higher level).

In Doc-O-Matic V3 you could use stopformat and hastocentry tags. These tags are no longer valid in V4. These settings are made for each configuration separately in the Content Manager.

You can also assign hierarchical information using tags in your source files. Group, topicorder and contentsentry tags in your source files are not updated using the Contents Designer. If there is TOC information available for a topic in source files and in you project files only TOC information in your project file is used. To remove TOC information from your project file you can use the Remove TOC Information tool on the Project tab.

If you edit a topic in the Editor hierarchical tags in your source file are removed and are stored in the project file.
