Doc-O-Matic 10
Escape Sequence

Doc-O-Matic uses many characters and words in a specific way (for example Section Starters, the tag delimiters, < and > and many more). To insert special characters in the text or if you do not want single words to be autolinked or detected as section starters you can use the backslash character.

The backslash character \ acts as escape character. You can escape every non-white space character, as in the following example.

abc\<$

This comment will appear as

abc<$

To enter a backslash use a double backslash \\. Single backslash characters, which are followed by white space characters, are ignored.

Some characters and words only have a specific meaning for Doc-O-Matic if they are used in a specific location. The "," character enclosed by tags is used as attribute separator. You have to escape a comma using the backslash character, if you want to use a comma in a topic title.
