Formatting Characters and Paragraphs

All pages of the output consist of several parts called Formatting Elements. All Formatting Elements are formatted according to the default formatting of the respective output. There are several ways to apply formatting to these elements.

  1. On the Quick Access Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click the corresponding Configuration tab.
  3. Select Files & Format > Layout > Formatting.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the elements list. In Category you can select which Formatting Elements you want to see (for example only the Formatting Elements for Special Pages).
  5. Double-click an element or select the element you want to change, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
  6. In the Element Editor you can specify character (font, size, color) and paragraph (alignment, indentation, space) settings for your element.

Following element types are available:

  • The paragraph character next to elements indicates elements whose character and paragraph settings can be modified.
  • The T next to elements indicates whether the font of this Formatting Elements was changed.
  • The T is dotted when the Formatting Element uses the default font of the configuration.
  • The white section icon next to elements indicates the default section element. The blue section icon indicates customized section elements.
  1. Select several formatting elements in the elements list and right-click anywhere in the dialog box.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. You can only change values that can be changed for all selected elements.
  4. To scale fonts for all selected elements, select Scale Fonts Sizes.
  1. On the Quick Access Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click the corresponding Configuration tab.
  3. Select Files & Format > Layout > Formatting.
  4. In the elements list, select the elements for which you want to scale the font size.
  5. Right-click, and then select Scale Font Sizes.
  6. Select Files & Format > Layout > Formatting > Default Fonts.
  7. In the Variable Pitch Font list, select a new default font for all elements using variable pitch fonts.
  8. In the Fixed Pitch Font list, select a new default font for all elements using fixed pitch fonts.
