Block Elements

HTML Help systems are built using cascading style sheets. Therefore in HTML there are a lot more Formatting Elements than in the other output formats. For each Formatting Element that consists of more than one line there is an additional Formatting Element called (block). Using Block Formatting Elements you can change paragraph formatting of the respective element. To change paragraph formatting for the whole page use the File Body and Page Content Body Formatting Elements.

Direction

In HTML Help systems scripts that are written from right to left can be used.

  • If you use scripts that are written from right to left, select Right to left in Direction in the Element Editor for each Formatting Element.
Alternative

Some fonts you can choose in the Element Editor might not be available on all computers where your Help is displayed.

  • To make sure that your documentation can be viewed on all computers enter alternative fonts and font families (separated by comma) in Alternative.
Clear

In HTML some character formatting (for example bold) of section text also applies for links, lists and flags that are inserted in this section.

  • To remove this formatting select the Clear check box.
Additional CSS

In the field additional CSS you can insert any CSS code for the selected element. For example, you can apply a gradient to the background of an element or you can float the element.

Borders

In HTML borders can be drawn around each Formatting Element.

  1. Click the Border tab in the Element Editor.
  2. Select the Active check box to draw the line.
  3. In the Width box, you can specify the width of the line. The border is drawn around the background of the respective element.
  4. In the Offset box, borders can be moved up or down. Positive values set off borders from the element.
  5. You can color the borders. The border has the same color as the text. If you select Background or None, the color of the border is the same as the color of the background (it is not visible).
