Block Elements

In PDF some elements are block elements. Using these elements you can only change paragraph formatting. Which elements are block elements is indicated in the Type column in the Formatting Elements list.

Font Mapping

Not all fonts provided by Doc-O-Matic are standard PDF fonts. If you use non-standard PDF fonts, your document can be viewed only if the font is installed on the computer the PDF is viewed on. Doc-O-Matic provides several ways to make sure your document can be viewed even if the computer of your user does not support the used fonts. Doc-O-Matic maps each used font to a PDF specific standard font by default.

  • You can change the default setting on the Files & Format > Page Layout > Formatting > Font Mapping page for each font that is used in the PDF configuration.
Numbering

Numbering of headings and page breaks are applied on the Files & Format > Page Layout > Numbering & Breaks page for PDF and RTF.

Borders

In PDF borders can be drawn around each Formatting Element.

  1. Click the Border tab in the Element Editor.
  2. Select the Active check box, to draw the line.
  3. In the Width box, you can specify the width of the line. The border is drawn around the background of the respective element by default. The background of an element has the same dimensions as the text and the before and after spacing.

  1. In the Offset box, you can move borders up or down. Positive values move the border off the text element. Negative values move border to the text element.
  2. You can color the borders. The border has the same color as the text by default. If you select Background or None, the color of the border is the same as the color of the background (it is not visible). Use the Color box to cut lines and enlarge the background of an element without visible borders.
  1. Select the Topic Title element.
  2. Click the Borders tab.
  3. Select the Bottom and Right Border check boxes.
  4. In the Colors box for the right border, select Background.
  5. In the Offset box for the right border, type -70.
