Editing Images

In this section you'll learn how to insert images in your topics. Doc-O-Matic searches in your image directories an image file that can be used in the current output format. The subdirectory graphics are added as image path to each configuration. The Image dialog box shows BMP, JPG, PNG, and GIF files in your image folders. Make sure that you have stored a fitting image format for each output format that you want to generate in your image folder. The following formats can be used in the corresponding output formats:

  1. On the Editor tab, in the Insert group, click Image .
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To insert an image file that you want to create or add later to your project, enter the file name without extension in the Name box.
    • To insert an image that is stored in one of you image paths, select an image and enter the first letter of the filename of the image, you want to add.
    • To insert an image that is not stored in one of you image paths, click Load and browse through your directories to the folder that contains the picture you want to insert. Doc-O-Matic prompts you to add the directory that contains the image to the image paths in all configurations.
  3. To show your image next to paragraphs in PDF and HTML select Float. Floating images can be inserted at the beginning of a paragraph only.
  4. To link from you image to a topic in your project or in another project, enter the corresponding topic ID in the Link to box or select the topic by using the topic ID dialog box. This feature works only in PDF and HTML.
  5. To provide an alternative alt text for your image in HTML, enter the alt text in the Hint box. If you do not enter an alt text, the name of the graphic appears as alt text in HTML.
  1. Select the image in the Editor.
  2. Right-click, and then point to Edit .
  3. Select Edit Image.
  4. Edit the image in your image editor.
  • To change the size in which you want your images to appear in the dialog box, right-click in the dialog and select a new size.
  • In Path all image paths that are added to your current configuration are listed. To browse through one folder only, click the Path arrow and select a path.
